Martin oversees Mercator’s Primary Research function, a standalone research platform focusing on first principles analysis of the key scientific and technological trends driving decarbonization and sustainability in the basic materials sector. A key focus is accessing thought leaders within academia, national labs, and industry. Martin received his PhD in Physical Chemistry from Princeton University.

Ryan leads the non-investment function of the organization. His 16+ years of experience in finance spans back and middle office operations, operational due diligence and regulation. Ryan is focused on all operational aspects of the business, compliance, and business development.

Prior to joining Mercator in June 2024, Florian spent over 3 years in fundraising, sustainable investing and sustainability strategy roles at international private equity firms EQT Partners and The Riverside Company. Prior to that, he worked as a management consultant for Simon-Kucher & Partners and Danske Bank Large Corporates and Institutions. He holds an MSc in Finance and a CEMS Master in International Management from Stockholm School of Economics

Before Mercator, Emma spent 3 years at two family offices based in Melbourne, Australia, where she formed part of a team managing global equity portfolios. Emma started her investing career as a Graduate Investment Analyst at the CBUS Superannuation Fund, also in Melbourne, and later joined the internal equities team as an Analyst, managing Global Equity and EM Equity mandates.

Jimmy has 28 years experience in industrial gases, with over 20 years at Air Products and 7 years as Director for Hydrogen Platform Technologies at NICE. Jimmy is a global expert in hydrogen production and distribution and in recent years has been at the forefront of innovation in hydrogen refueling systems for transit and commercial vehicles. Jimmy has a total 63 granted/pending patent families (500+ individual patents) together with numerous internal & external publications.

Niall is a Professor in Energy Systems Engineering at Imperial College London. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of both the IChemE and the Royal Society of Chemistry. His research is focused on understanding the transition to a low carbon economy and pathways to carbon management utilizing approaches such as CCUS.together with numerous internal & external publications.
